Full-bodied and enveloping red wine, with hints of blackberry and cherry. Produced only from Sangiovese grapes, selected during the harvest and hand-picked from the generous vineyards adjacent to the Casa del Gelso.

The Sangiovese Superiore of Tenuta del Gelso is a full-bodied and enveloping wine, with hints of blackberry and cherry.
Produced only from Sangiovese grapes, selected during the harvest and hand-picked from the generous vineyards adjacent to the Casa del Gelso.
The vinification involves destemming-crushing with mechanical selection of the grapes and maceration in contact with the skins for 16-18 days. The aging takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks.


Tasting notes

 

Intense ruby red, with violet reflections.


The nose has intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits.


In the mouth, powerful structure supported by soft and mature tannins and balanced alcohol content. The finish is long and persistent.


Food pairings

Ideal:
cured meats, piadina, stuffed and fresh pasta, red meat dishes, first courses with meat sauce, roasts, boiled, stewed and grilled courses.

Interesting:
venison and wild game meat, pork, duck, risotto with mushrooms and truffles, savory pies, winter vegetable flans, aged cheeses, cereal and legume soups.

To try:
pizza, Valencian paella, swordfish, street food.

Duck breast with sweet and sour onions.
